I became a volunteer counselor for the Crisis Pregnancy Center in 1996. Within a year, I was employed as the Saturday Supervisor and Public Relations Assistant for CPC (now WRMC), until I had a baby in 2001. After many years as an Admin. Assistant, I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom and homeschool my daughter but remained an active volunteer for WRMCSN, my church, and my community. I earned my Associate of Business degree from CSN in 2015 and Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Education from UNLV in 2018.
I was adamantly pro-choice until I heard an announcement at my church asking for volunteers at the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She talked passionately about how she believes in life at conception and how CPC tries to be an alternative to abortion. Immediately my heart was struck because I had recently rededicated my life to the LORD and wanted to learn more. Taking the counselor training opened my eyes to the miracle of life and the amazing love and forgiveness of God. I learned that the fetus is not just a blob of tissue, but a baby with a beating heart! I realized that the baby needed a voice. Moreover, this ministry gave me a purpose for all the pain and suffering in my life. I clung to my favorite Bible verse, 2 Cor. 1:3-4. God doesn’t waste a hurt. God brings something good out of something terrible. I can comfort others with the comfort that God gave me. I can help others who have similar circumstances and show them how God helped me through the hard times.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Cor. 1:3-4 NASB.
