Vanessa was born in Pueblo, Colorado 2 months premature and spent the first two months of her life in the hospital. Her family came to Las Vegas because her father in the Air Force was stationed here in 1993, when she was in the first grade. Vanessa has worked in several hospitals as a Labor and Delivery RN including Valley Hospital, Centennial Hills Hospital and currently a few days per month at Mountain View Hospital. Vanessa is married with three children and enjoys running and hiking in her free time. She was interested in running the WRMCSN Race for Life when she saw the Facebook call for medical missionaries; having experience with ultrasound and prenatal care she decided to reach out. It was while viewing the website she realized that there was a need for an OB RN to help the prenatal care program and believed that this is where God had been leading her all along. "I've always been fascinated by the miracle and science of pregnancy and the medical care that is involved. It is a dream for me to be able to use my profession in a ministry capacity. Motherhood/fatherhood, creation of new life and 'expecting' can teach us so much about who God is. I faced an unplanned pregnancy at 19yrs old, and I can relate to the pressure and fear; having my son was the biggest blessing, and I am continually amazed at how He teaches me through my children. I am grateful that this Center exists so that these women know that they are not alone and that God has a good plan for their lives."
Vanessa is currently working on her BSN with the goal of attaining her Women's Health NP/ Certified Nurse Midwife.
Psalm 127 (Amplified Version)
1) Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it…3) Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them. The will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in gatherings] at the[city’s] gate.
